Bio
Starting to work with students the summer after his freshman year in college, there have been few other jobs that have held Mr Dixon's career passion as students have. For several years before becoming a teacher, Mr. Dixon was a youth minister in a small East Texas community. The community was so small there were only two churches, a small grocery store and a "1A" school. Mr. Dixon started substituting to help local teachers and build relationships with students for youth ministry. His wife was teaching at the time as well, and soon he was hooked into the world of education. Somehow he was convinced to start teaching in elementary school, which gives him a tremendous background for where students are coming from in their education, but after three years, he found a true passion for middle school and specifically for teaching writing. Reading and writing have become more intertwined in his teaching to create intrigue for students.
Outside of school, Mr. Dixon enjoys spending time with his wife, two daughters, and other family; cooking, hiking, traveling and adventure.
